4 of a kind: Spacious four-beds for growing families around Dublin

Four turnkey options if space and proximity to the city are on your wish list.

IF YOU’RE STAYING close to the city but more space is essential, one of these properties in Dublin might be where your house hunt ends.

This week, we’re scouring the capital’s city codes for houses that have four bedrooms, lots of space and great links to town.

Foxrock, Dublin 18 – €895,000

No 81 Kill Lane in Foxrock is a nicely sized four-bed that’s a short walk from the village of Deansgrange making it well connected to shops, schools, colleges and the city centre.

With an overall floor area of 182 m², the space comprises a large sunroom to the back of the house and a converted attic space with a shower room. Four bedrooms are on the first floor, all have fitted wardrobes while the main has an en suite shower. The garden is landscaped and lush. There’s off-street parking and a side entrance to the front. All in all, this house ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to suburban living.

Churchtown, Dublin 14 – €845,000

No 131 Braemor Road is a four-bed that’s semi-detached and has a BER of C2 following a refurbishment in 2014 that saw the house being replumbed, rewired, a new heating system and boiler installation and new timber frame windows and doors, as well as insulation.

The interior includes a handy boot room in the porch, leading to a hallway and on to the main rooms, which have plenty of built-in storage. The colour scheme is neutral and easy to work with. The kitchen, dining and sitting room is open plan but L-shaped for better zoning. French doors lead to the back garden from here. To the front, there’s space for three cars and seeing as Churchtown village and multiple transport links to the city centre are just a stroll away, they may stay there a while.

Castleknock, Dublin 15 – €845,000

Beechpark Orchard is a development just off Castleknock village’s Main Street so it also benefits from being a stroll away from Phoenix Park. A 134 m² detached four-bed, No 5 has an attic conversion, which is currently a home office, and a sunroom extension to the back. Two of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms while the ground floor comprises three lounges and a kitchen with a separate utility room.
The house is on a small cul de sac with ten other detached houses that all face a green area but there’s also a back garden with a patio area for more privacy.  The N3 and M50 will bring you to the city and the airport in 15 minutes.

Malahide, Co Dublin – €750,000

No 32 Milford is a 131 m² semi-detached family home that was fully renovated and extended in 2017. The open plan kitchen dining space spans the back of the house and has an adjoining utility area. Upstairs, the converted attic is 22 m² and would make an ideal home office. Outside, a neat rear garden is attractively landscaped with paving and raised beds that are filled with colourful planting and specimen shrubs.

Also in a quiet cul-de-sac, Malahide village is minutes away while the kids can stroll to schools of both levels. Malahide is serviced by the DART and plenty of bus services for access to the city centre.
