Four of a kind: Beautiful end of terrace properties around Dublin

From a two-bed in Dublin 8 to a four-bed in Dun Laoighaire.

IF THE THOUGHT of potential noisy neighbours is keeping you up at night, it might be worth considering an end of terrace house – at least you won’t have to worry about one side, anyway.

Other advantages this property type has over the mid terrace can be a larger garden and side access. This week, we’ve collected four luxurious end of terrace homes around Dublin city and county, whether you need a two-bed or a five-bed, one of these might suit?

Kilmainham, Dublin 8 –€845,000

No 18 Mountshannon Road is a four-bed with a city location yet road noise and lack of space are two things you won’t need to worry about. The front of this period home faces a traffic-free street that’s approached via Mayfield Road in Dublin 8.

Inside, the floor space measures a generous 145 m² and while each room has been refurbished in recent years it has kept its authentic period property charm – throughout the house you’ll find the classic features blended with high-end fittings that make everyday life easier, such as the Bulthaup kitchen, which leads into the dining area. The kitchen overlooks the south facing garden so it’s flooded with natural light. A guest toilet, utility room and home office complete the ground floor accommodation while four bedrooms sit on the first floor.

Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin – €1,700,000

This unusually laid out Victorian home spans 250 m² and is set over three storeys. A period home in great condition, the back garden is a sun trap, which can only be a plus. Inside, the staircase actually runs across the house, so there are unexpected rooms beyond the staircase at the back of the house. The kitchen has been extended and upgraded with a dining area and the aforementioned garden is walled and thus very private.

There are four bedrooms, two of which have en suite bathrooms, and also a family bathroom. The house is just a short walk from Dun Laoghaire town, so the DART and many shops, schools, restaurants and leisure facilities are all within easy reach.

Saint Margaret’s Terrace, Dublin 8 –€445,000

For smaller families, No. 3 Saint Margaret’s Terrace in Dublin 8 is located on a lovely square which will no doubt ensure anyone who lives here will get to know the neighbours instantly. Located off Cork Street, the interior comprises a living room with wooden floors and wood burning stove. This then leads to double doors to the kitchen/dining room and sizeable garden to the back, which is often a blessing in a city  house too. A utility area and a downstairs shower room finish off the ground floor.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The bedroom to the back is a double and the other is currently being used as nursery and walk-in wardrobe. A multi-functional space, it has a wall bed and fold up office desk.

Ranelagh, Dublin 6 – €1,395,000

Ivy House in Ranelagh is an end of terrace Victorian house that has retained most of its original features, from high ceilings to sash windows. Slap bang in the middle of busy Ranelagh, everything Dublin’s south side has to offer and brilliant transport links makes sure it ticks even more boxes. At the moment it is being used as an office space but with an architect’s eye this would make a luxurious family home. The garden level is already a two-bed apartment with its own access from the front and the back.

The hall and first floor are currently seven office rooms but there’s also a kitchen, shower room and guest WC facilities. There are gardens on both the front and back of the house with electric gates and off-street parking to the back – always great for peace of mind in a city location.
