Frank McBrearty concedes seat in Donegal South West

The Labour candidate has conceded his seat and congratulated Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty, who leading the tally.

LABOUR CANDIDATE FRANK McBrearty has conceded his seat in Donegal South West.

Speaking on Ocean FM,  McBrearty congratulated Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty and blamed “elements” of the media for his disappointing first preference tally.

Meanwhile, the Tánaiste Mary Coughlan is fighting for her seat in the three-seat constituency – standing in forth place at the moment.

The tally for the constituency currently stands at:

Doherty – 13929

McGinley – 8380

Pringle – 5795

Coughlan – 4918

O Domhnaill – 4715

McBrearty – 2175

McCahill – 1863

Duffy – 525

Sweeney – 240
