WHAT’S THE STORY?
1. There was a sharp message from IDA Ireland to Bausch and Lomb’s at-risk workers today – take the pay cut or face a ‘stark reality’.
2. Some horrific news emerged from India today after two young sisters were found hanged in Katra village. The teenagers had been gang raped and murdered.
3. Aer Lingus staff have gone ahead with their strike today - and most of the airline's flights have been cancelled.
4. Alex White has confirmed what we've all known for ages - he wants to be the next leader of the Labour party. It's on.
5. The HSE has confirmed that people who lost their discretionary medical cards before yesterday's announcement will not get them back.
6. We may be looking at some good news (!) in the energy sector. Price experts have welcomed the July date set for the deregulation of the gas market. They say that allowing Bord Gáis to set their own prices will mean better competition.
So, we might be able to get rid of this?
7. Know a baby that was born last year? Is its name Jack or Emily? There's a chance it is as they were, by far, the most popular names of 2013. Very different from the Johns and Marys born 50 years before.
