Frost, ice and even a weather warning - thanks for nothing February

Don’t expect to be able to feel your toes out there. You will be disappointed.

WERE YOU EXPECTING a let up in the weather now that we have made it to February?

Well, forget it.

Met Éireann issued a weather warning for widespread frost and a risk of icy patches last night.

The status yellow alert is staying in place until 10 o’clock this morning – what a lovely Monday wake-up call.

Met Éireann also forecast scattered wintry showers – mainly in parts of Ulster, Connacht and west Munster.

AA Roadwatch says it’s quite icy around Wicklow and Wexford towns and around Waterford city, warning that:

Gardai have reported patches of ice around Letterkenny and there are intermittent snow showers to contend with around Donegal Town.

It also warned that secondary roads around Roscommon town and Carrick-on-Shannon are icy.

Oh and tonight is staying cold – really cold – minus 5 Celsius cold. Great.
