DOING YOUR CHRISTMAS shopping online is one way to beat the hellish crowds – a few credit card details later, and the packages magically appear at your door.

But pity the poor people putting together your orders. These incredible photographs show Amazon’s vast shipment warehouses in the UK, as business ramps up for the festive season.

The company recently opened its largest “fulfilment centre” in the country, a one million square foot facility in Fife, Scotland. The centre is the size of 14 football pitches.

So next time you’re happily browsing from your sofa, spare a thought for these warehouse warriors:
