That looks magical. Went to the one in Dublin and wasn’t impressed. Had a hotdog that cost €5 and overpriced mulled wine.

Went to the one in Doonbeg. Same thing there – overpriced. Nothing really in the stalls either. The atmosphere was nice if you had no kids and could sit down and soak up it up.

Went to the Galway one 3 years ago. There weren’t great stalls, the food was okay. But there was little to no atmosphere due to it being mid day and not night time.

Gorgeous – it has an oriental feel to it.

Christmas market in Dublin would have been much better placed inside Stephens green where people would have more room to walk about each stall.
Instead in their wisdom, powers to be decided to place it on a footpath for people to trample all over each other. Was in there last week and had child in buggy.
    Disaster !!

Also visited St. Stephen’s Green markets with a child in a buggy. Such a shame they weren’t in the park rather than on the footpath outside. You couldn’t really stop to look at anything without causing a queue to build up behind you. Not that that really mattered because of the 50 or so stalls, I’d guess that maybe 40 were food or drink stalls! Visited the Galway markets last Christmas and it was a much nicer experience! (Although, if I remember rightly, they are both run by the same organiser).

The organisers of the Dublin one could learn a thing or 2 off their Galway counterparts about organising a Christmas market! No market needs 3 different crepe stands!!!!!

Nothing says ‘Christmas’ like a crepe(!) – the Dublin one is alright for a stroll, but it’s disappointing.

Visited Christmas markets in Hamburg, Stuttgart & Cologne and the difference in price is steep, a lot of the German ones in fairness are family efforts that go back generations, the Galway authorities apparently charge a big rent for the space, along with destroying the €11 million Eyre Square. Go to Germany for the real experience.

Went to one in Zurich years ago. It was certainly an experience. Think I only picked up (real) Turkish, toasted nuts and chocolate.

I heard it was €18,000 for a stall at the Galway market. Most defiantly not a craft fair. Full of cheap Chinese hats, ornaments etc. Wouldn’t say anything was made in Ireland bar the food. Lidl had a good few stands too. One Russian Orphanage was great, but way over priced.

I still can’t believe they thought that the crappy Dublin one would be as tourist attraction!! Seriously?? Here’s a load of food stalls and some bog wood art! Really sums up Christmas to me! They’re charging €5500 to set up a stall there. Joke!!
