Woman and her son (14) killed after car crashes into tree

They were pronounced dead at the scene. Post-mortem examinations are due to take place today.

A WOMAN AND her son have been killed after their car struck a tree in Co Galway last night.

It happened near the border with Roscommon, at Ballaghlea, Ballygar, at around 9.45pm.

“A woman in her 30s and her 14-year-old son were fatally injured when the car they were traveling in struck a tree,” gardaí confirmed in a statement.

They were the only occupants of the car.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and their bodies taken to University Hospital Galway where post-mortem examinations will take place.

No other vehicles were involved.
