Investigation after two bombs found in derelict house on outskirts of Cavan town

The discovery was made in the Aughnaskerry area.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched after two viable explosives were discovered at a derelict house on the outskirts of Cavan town.

Following a request from the gardai, the Army Bomb Disposal Team were deployed and were on scene at 8.45pm yesterday evening.

The scene was declared safe at 10.40pm.

The bombs were then removed to a military location where they are now being examined.

Following a technical examination of the devices, the parts will be handed over to the Gardai for evidential purposes.
