Garda Commissioner Noirin O Sullivan has come under increasing pressure over the breath-test scandal. RollingNews.ie

Poll: Should gardaí face sanctions for the false breath-test figures?

A Garda report has indicated that the false figures were created by a mix of problems.

DO YOU THINK gardaí should face disciplinary action if involved in the false breath-test figures recorded over the past 7 years?

The Irish Times reports that a number of gardaí may face sanctions for the figures, although it’s not known how many gardaí this would involve, or if senior members would also be reprimanded.

The number of breath-tests carried out between 2009 and 2016 was 1.8million – but was recorded by gardaí as being double that amount.

A Garda report seen by the Irish Times says that false figures were caused by a mix of administrative mistakes, input errors, while others were simply made up.

So we’re asking, do you think individual gardaí should be sanctioned for their involvement in the breath-test scandal?

Poll Results:

Yes, all gardaí who handled breath-test figures (3333)
Yes, only those who made up figures (3307)
Yes, senior gardaí involved (1654)
No, but reform is needed (988)
