Man due before court tomorrow over Finglas shop robbery

Gardaí forced entry into the shop yesterday, where they discovered a man wearing a balaclava armed with a crowbar.

A 43-YEAR-OLD MAN is to appear before Blanchardstown District Court tomorrow morning on charges in connection with a robbery at a shop in Finglas yesterday.

Gardaí foiled a robbery today that was taking place in a shop in Finglas, during which the staff were locked into a room.

At around 7.30am uniformed gardaí were alerted to a robbery in progress at a shop in the Hampton Wood area of Finglas.

Upon arrival, gardaí forced entry into the shop where they discovered a man wearing a balaclava armed with a crowbar. Following a brief struggle, the man was apprehended.

Two staff members, a male and a female, were found after being locked into a room inside the premises. They were not physically harmed during the incident, gardaí said.

The investigation is ongoing.
