Garda investigation after body of woman (80s) found at a home in Tipperary

GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED an investigation after the discovery of a woman’s body at a home in Nenagh, Co Tipperary on Sunday.

The discovery was made on Sunday afternoon at a house in St Joseph’s Park, Nenagh. Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly after midday.

She has been named locally as Josephine Ray.

The woman, believed by gardaí to be in her 80s, was found dead at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick.

A technical examination of the scene will be conducted and a post-mortem examination was completed by the State Pathologist yesterday. The results of the examination are not being released for operational reasons, gardaí said.

Gardaí have established an incident room at Nenagh Garda Station and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. 

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased woman. A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the force is investigation “all circumstances” of the discovery.

Anyone who was in the St Joseph’s Park area of Nenagh between 8pm on Saturday 3 August and 12pm Sunday 4 August has been asked to contact Gardaí.

Additionally, individuals with video recordings, including motorists with dash cams, from the area within the timeframe are asked to provide footage to investigating Gardaí.
