Man arrested after death of man in apartment in Kilcock, Co Kildare

One man has been arrested.

A MAN IN his 50s has died following an alleged assault in Kilcock, Co Kildare this afternoon.

Gardaí say the incident happened between 3pm and 4pm at a residence on School Street in Kilcock.

It is understood that a stabbing happened inside an apartment complex. 

A man aged in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body remains at the scene. 

A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow morning at the mortuary at Naas General Hospital by State Pathologist Sally Ann Collis.

Gardaí are at the scene and it remains preserved for a technical examination. 

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the ongoing investigation.

He is currently detained at a Garda Station in Kildare.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area of School Street between 3pm and 4pm today, and observed any activity which drew their attention, to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 3pm and 4pm are also asked to make this footage available.
