Pedestrian dies after being knocked down by van in north Dublin

The incident happened shortly after 11pm last night.

A PEDESTRIAN HAS died after being knocked down in north Dublin late last night.

The incident happened shortly after 11pm on the Finglas Road.

A man in his 40s was struck by a van and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Dublin City Morgue where post mortem is due to take place.

The incident led to delays on the inbound lane of the Finglas Road – one of the main thoroughfares into the city – after a section of the road close to the Tolka Valley Road junction was closed.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators had been at the scene.

The road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Finglas Garda Station on 016667500 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
