Six people arrested as over 100 gardaí carry out raids in west Dublin

The raids were targeting organised crime in west Dublin.

LAST UPDATE | 15 Feb

SIX PEOPLE HAVE been arrested as part of a major operation targeting organised crime in west Dublin.

Over 100 Garda personnel were involved in the raids, with searches being carried out on a number of residences.

A search continues at one residential property in the Dublin 15 area, gardaí said.

The five men arrested (four aged in their 20s and one in his 40s) are being detained at Garda Stations in west Dublin under section 72 Criminal Justice Act, 2006 for the investigation of alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

One woman (aged in her 30s) was also arrested and is being detained under section 30 Offences Against the State Act, as amended, in connection with this investigation.

Gardaí said the operation was led by detectives and uniform units from Blanchardstown Garda Station, supported by the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), Armed Support Unit (ASU), Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT), Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI), Garda Dog Unit, Garda National Technical Bureau and local divisional search teams and Scenes of Crime Units.

It is understood that the raids carried out were targeting some members of a gang based in the area, that have previously been connected to the Blanchardstown shooting at a restaurant on Christmas Eve 2023.
