Man due in court over Dublin church fire

A serious fire broke out at St Catherine’s Church in the Liberties area of Dublin yesterday.

A MAN IN HIS 50s is due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning to face charges in connection with a fire at St Catherine’s Church on Meath Street in Dublin yesterday.

No injuries were reported, but the property is understood to have sustained smoke and water damage as a result of the fire and efforts to extinguish the blaze.

The man was arrested yesterday by gardaí investigating the fire and held overnight under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Kevin Street Garda Station.
