Gardaí appeal for witnesses to single vehicle crash in Laois

The crash happened last night on the South bound lane of the M7 motorway between Junction 16 and 17.

GARDAÍ IN PORTLAOISE investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the M7 Motorway at Ballymacken, Portlaoise, County Laois last night are appealing for witnesses.

The crash happened at approximately 9.55pm

This was a single vehicle collision on the South bound lane of the M7 motorway between Junction 16 and Junction 17 involving a  01 D registration Silver Volvo S40 saloon car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise where a post mortem examination will take place later today.

Gardaí said that witnesses may have been travelling on the M7 South bound near these junctions around the time of the collision.
