Man set his pit bull on gardaí as they tried to search house for drugs

The three detective gardaí were injured in the incident. The man’s been arrested.

A MAN SET his pit bull on three gardaí as they tried to search a house in Louth for drugs this morning.

The detective gardaí, from Ardee Station, called to a premises in Termonfeckin at 9am with a search warrant.

The dog was set on the officers – and the man also produced a knife.

The gardaí received leg and arm injuries as a struggle ensued.

They were taken for treatment to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. However, none of the injuries were life-threatening and all three have since been released.

The man, who is in his 30s, has been arrested – and is being held at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The house has been sealed off, and a detailed technical examination is being carried out. gardaí say.
