Gardaí investigate lorry fire outside Quinn plant in Cavan

The incident is the latest in a series that have seemingly targeted properties formerly owned by the bankrupt Seán Quinn.

GARDAÍ SAY THEY are investigating the circumstances surrounding a lorry which went on fire outside the Quinn packaging plant in Co Cavan last night.

Officers were called to the scene after a lorry was reported to be on fire at sometime between 9 and 10pm last night outside the Quinn packaging plant in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan.  There were no injuries and there have been no arrests at this stage.

Gardaí say that CCTV damage will be reviewed as part of  their investigation into the latest in series of incidents involving property belonging to businesses formerly owned by the bankrupt Seán Quinn.

Last December a truck was driven into a wall outside the Quinn Group premises on the Ballyconnell Road in Co Fermanagh.

While last August, in the most high profile incident, the Quinn Group CEO’s family car was completely destroyed in an arson attack at his Co Meath home.

Paul O’Brien later claimed the attacks were being carried out in Quinn’s name by people who “want the new management out, and the original management restored.” Quinn strenuously denied this.

The former billionaire businessman was declared bankrupt at the High Court in Dublin in January following a lengthy legal battle with the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation, formerly Anglo Irish Bank, to whom he owes billions of euro.
