Gardaí release picture of missing Blathnaid's headscarf

Officers hope this photograph of the headscarf Blathnaid Timothy was wearing when she disappeared might spur a memory.

GARDAÍ HAVE RELEASED an image of scarf being worn by missing 33-year-old Blathnaid Timothy, hoping that the image may jog the memories of those who seen her since her last confirmed sighting.

Timothy has been missing since Tuesday 14 December, and was lwearing the pictured scarf – wrapped around her head – when she was last seen, getting into a taxi on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin and travelling to Howth.

The red-and-black ‘Dogtooth’ scarf, from Warehouse, would have been slightly frayed from wear and tear, Gardaí say, adding that the image of the scarf may spur memories of those who saw her last.

Gardáí have also appealed to people who were in the Howth Village/Howth Pier/Harbour Road area of Howth on that evening, and who may have seen a lone female in the area, to contact them.

Emergency services had attended an earlier incident on the West Pier in the north Dublin seaside town, Gardaí say, while the annual meeting of the local yacht club had also been ongoing. There were people in the area, therefore, who may have spotted her after she disembarked the taxi.

Glenamaddy native Timothy was left at Harbour Road in Howth at 8:30pm that evening, and has not been seen since.

Last weekend the coastguard extended their search for Timothy to the waters between Louth and Wicklow, and it was reported that Gardaí did not suspect foul play in her disappearance.

Blathnaid is described as 5′6” in height, of thin build, and with medium-length dark brown hair and a pale complexion. She was wearing a black 3/4 length wool coat, grey jeans and dark shoes/boots when she disappeared, as well as the pictured scarf.

She had been working as a business consultant in Coca-Cola before her disappearance, and had previously worked in KPMG.

Anybody with information or who may have seen her or somebody matching the description in Howth on the night in question is asked to contact Harcourt Terrace Garda station on (01) 6669500.
