Gardaí renew appeal over Co Kildare tiger kidnapping

An Post employee’s wife was taken from the family home and falsely imprisoned at a derelict building overnight, before she managed to escape and contact gardaí.

GARDAÍ HAVE RENEWED their appeal for information regarding the abduction of an An Post employee’s wife and the false imprisonment of their two children.

Armed men forced their way into the family’s home in Fennor, Co Kildare, on the night of 4 April and took the woman from the house.

The following morning, the An Post employee was given instruction to drive to the GPO in Dublin city centre and to obtain a sum of money before awaiting further instructions.

Gardaí became aware of the incident over the morning and a comprehensive response team was put into action. The woman who had been abducted managed to free herself at about 9.15am and contacted gardaí. She was reunited with her family later that morning and was not physically injured.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Lispopple and Boimhe Beeches areas of Swords between 11.30pm on the 4 April and 9.30am the next day to contact them. They are also looking to speak to anyone who noticed the movements of a silver Mercedes with the registration 11 D 13049.

Investigating gardaí can be contacted on 045 431212 or through the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
