Gardaí search for silver Audi in shooting investigation

The 43-year-old victim was shot several times at about 9.30am.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE fatal shooting of a man at a Rathcoole industrial estate this morning have made an appeal to the public for information.

They are specifically looking for information about a silver-coloured Audi A3 five-door hatchback that was in the vicinity of Greenogue Industrial Estate at the time of the incident.

Detectives wish to speak with anyone who may have seen the vehicle – which has a partial registration number 05-TN – either at the industrial estate or in the Aylmer housing estate in Newcastle between 7am and 10am. They also want anyone who was in either of those locations between those times to contact them at the Clondalkin station.

The 43-year-old victim was shot a number of times and was found by gardaí inside a commercial premises at Grants Crescent. He was attended to by emergency services and brought to Tallaght hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out later today by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabbar. A technical examination of the scene is continuing and an incident room has been set up in Clondalkin.

The victim has not yet been identified.
