Gardaí seek witnesses to fatal Monaghan hit-and-run

A 20-year-old man was fatally injured when he was struck between Drumnart and Clontibret two weeks ago.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED an appeal to the public seeking witnesses to a hit-and-run accident two weeks ago in which a 20-year-old man was killed.

Fintan Trayor was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on a minor road between Drumnart and Lemgare, Clontibret in the early hours of Sunday 26 June.

Gardaí specifically wish to speak to the driver of an Audi A4 which was seen in the area between 2am and 7:30am that morning.

Officers said the site of the accident is not widely used and that local people may have valuable information that they had not yet offered. Garages who may have carried out recent repairs on cars are also asked to contact them.

Gardaí also wish to speak to a driver who dropped the deceased and a friend home from Castleblayney on the morning of the accident to get in touch.

Witnesses can contact Monaghan Garda Station at 047 77200, the Garda confidential telephone line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
