Gardaí seize 'up to 100 cannabis' plants from Laois house

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene in connection with the drug seizure.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED cannabis plants worth around €40,000 and arrested a man in his 40s following a planned search of a house in Laois.

The search took place at 9pm last night at a house in Clarmallagh in Co Laois. Gardaí from Abbeyleix Garda station seized up to 100 cannabis plants which were being cultivated in the house.

The plants are estimated to have a street value of €40,000 pending a full analysis.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene.

He is currently detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
