Seven-hour standoff between man and armed gardaí ends without injury

No arrests have been made.

A SEVEN-HOUR STANDOFF between armed gardaí and a man has ended without incident.

Gardaí were called to the house in Crookstown, Co Cork, just after midday today, and a media blackout put in place.

One shot was fired from the house, gardaí say.

At 7pm this evening, an elderly man left the house and spoke to gardaí. Two legally-held guns were recovered from the house.

Gardaí are now investigating the incident.

No arrests have been made, and no one was injured in the incident.
