The court hearing was not made in public.

A MAN ARRESTED in connection with the murder of Gary Hutch in Spain has been remanded in custody.

The man, who was arrested in Spain yesterday, has appeared in court in Fuengirola this morning and was further remanded in custody for the further investigation of the offences.

Gardaí say the investigation by the Guardia Civil is at an early stage and is under the control of a judge.

The court hearing was not made in public.

Gary Hutch was gunned down near his apartment in Spain last year.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested yesterday. He is understood to be related to a high-profile Dublin criminal, and has been described as one of the “key players” in the Garda investigation of the Kinahan drug gang by Detective Superintendent Tony Howard.

The man was arrested yesterday as part of a joint investigation between Spanish and Irish authorities which saw 11 searches carried out in both Dublin and the south of Spain.

Among the items seized during the joint operation were computers, phones, €23,000 in cash and false identifications.

Howard said officers also retrieved several items of financial documentation in relation to banks outside the jurisdiction.
