Gaza kids challenge kite-flying record

Great images of the record-breaking effort.

THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN in Gaza have taken part in a mammoth kite-flying display, in a bid to break their own record for the number of kits flown at the same time.

Over 6,200 kids played a part in the event and each child flew one flag. The children are taking part in a summer camp programme organised and run by the United Nations in Gaza.

Irishman John Ging, who runs the UN’s relief operation in Gaza, said they are still awaiting official confirmation from the Guinness Book of World Records, but he believes the kids managed to break the record they set last year.
