Germans want to ban bestiality, legalise cannabis

More than 152,000 voted to make cannabis a legal drug, while a further 93,000 said sex with animals should be banned.

ANGELA MERKEL MAY be concentrating on how to drag the Eurozone out of its current crisis. But many of the German Chancellor’s compatriots seem to have other things on their mind.

In an online poll aimed at bringing the German Government closer to the electorate, more than 152,000 voted to make cannabis a legal drug, reports Reuters.

Germans who voted said the existing black market should be replaced by a regulated market with youth and consumer protection and a tax on cannabis. They said shops or cannabis clubs could sell the drug, but only to adults.

157,000 Germans said they wanted the German government to pass a law that would make it illegal to deny the Armenian Genocide, while more than 93,000 voted to scrap a 1969 law which decriminalised the sexual abuse of animals.

They also wanted an open debate on islam. They said that critics of Islam were criticised too quickly, and said “An argumentative debate over Islam must take place at last.”

Other popular suggestions made in included more political support for home births and making artificial insemination more affordable to people.

The online poll is part of an ongoing initiative called ‘Dialogue on the future’.
