Gilmore: Negotiated settlement on Bus Éireann in best interests of everyone

The Tánaiste was speaking after strike action at the transport company was postponed in order to facilitate talks between unions and management.

TÁNAISTE EAMON GILMORE has said that a negotiated settlement of the Bus Éireann dispute is in the best interests of everyone affected by the two-day strike action.

Gilmore was speaking outside government buildings this morning following the announcement that workers at the transport company had postponed strike action for 48 hours in a bid to reach an agreement with management through the Labour Relations Commission.

The Tánaiste also reaffirmed that savings of €300 million would need to be achieved in the public sector pay bill this year.
