Girl band singer in HIV court case

German Eurovision singer apologises in court for failing to warn partners of infection.

GERMAN POPSTAR Nadja Benaissa from the girl band No Angels has apologised in court for having unprotected sex with partners without telling them she was HIV-positive, the BBC reports.

The 28-year-old mother of one apologised at the opening of her trial, but denied deliberately infecting anyone.

Benaissa was arrested last year on suspicion of infecting a former partner with HIV.

She was charged with causing bodily harm after allegedly having sex with three men and failing to inform them about her infection.

An international television talent show put the No Angels band together in 2000 and the girls became Germany’s biggest-selling girl band.

They split in 2003, but reformed in 2007.

No Angels represented Germany at the 2008 Eurovision final with the song Disappear, finishing 23rd out of 25 entrants:
