Young girl injured in Galway motorway crash passes away in hospital

The five-year-old was seriously injured in a three vehicle collision near Athenry on Wednesday of last week.

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL injured in a three-car collision on the M6 near Athenry last week has died as a result of her injuries.

All three vehicles involved were travelling westbound towards Galway city when the crash happened at around 7pm last Wednesday.

Five other people were taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment to non life-threatening injuries.

The young girl was transferred to  Temple Street Hospital in Dublin in the wake of the collision, but gardaí confirmed this evening that she had passed away.
