Man arrested after woman in her 30s found dead in Gorey

An incident room has been established at Gorey Garda Station.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched after a woman in her 30s was found dead following an incident in the early hours of this morning in Co Wexford.

Shortly after 3am, Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at a residence in Baile Eoghain, Gorey, where the woman was found unresponsive. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the investigation.

He is currently detained at a Garda station in the Eastern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 according to a Garda statement.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Gorey Garda Station. A family liaison officer has also been assigned to support the family of the woman.

The scene has been preserved for examination by specialist gardaí and the Office of the State Pathologist and local Coroner have been notified. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to come forward. Additionally, they are seeking dashcam footage from motorists who were in the vicinity of Baile Eoghain at the time of the incident.
