Firefighters in hours-long battle with gorse fire in Howth

The last crew left the scene at 8.30pm once the blaze was brought under control.

DUBLIN FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED a gorse fire for about five hours today in Howth.

Crews from Kilbarrack, North Strand and Phibsborough attended the blaze from around 3.30pm.

A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said the fire had been “fairly extensive”. However it is not believed to have been close to any homes.

They managed to bring the blaze under control and the last crew left at 8.30pm.
