Poll taken earlier this week, in the wake of the state visits by Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth, show support for the coalition partners is up slightly.

THE LATEST OPINION poll shows public support for the government has risen slightly, with Fine Gael’s support up 2 per cent to 41 per cent, and Labour up 1 per cent to 19.

Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin registered no change in support, at 16 and 11 per cent respectively, according to the Sunday Business Post/Red C poll which was carried out earlier this week – starting on the evening of Obama’s visit.

Independents/Green Party/Others were down 3 per cent.
