Greens admit: 2010 was an 'annus horribilis'

The junior coalition partners announce a January think-in – and admit that 2010 was a pretty horrendous year.

THE GREEN PARTY may already be in preparation for next year’s general election, but the aspirational talk that usually characterises election campaigns may already be off the agenda.

This afternoon, the party press office distributed details of a so-called ‘think-in’ being held by the party’s six TDs and three Senators in Malahide in January, ahead of the government’s final weeks and the onset of a general election in the spring.

Signing off for the Christmas break, however, the press office makes an unfortunately on-the-button remark:

Thanks for the help and cooperation in the annus horribilis that was 2010…

It’s not readily apparent whether the party believes the year has been tough because of external forces, or because of the actions of the government.
