Gun, ammunition and drugs recovered in west Dublin

Two men were arrested during two separate garda operations in the Finglas area yesterday evening.

GARDAÍ IN WEST Dublin have recovered a sawn-off shotgun and a quantity of cannabis resin as part of an ongoing investigation into criminal activity in the area.

A man in his 30s was searched by gardaí at Clune Road, Finglas late yesterday evening.

During the search, gardaí recovered the gun and some ammunition. The man is currently being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

In a separate operation, gardaí in Finglas discovered cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €88,000 during a house search.

A 40-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Finglas Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
