TWO MEN, BOTH in their thirties, have been arrested following the seizure by Gardaí of two firearms and cannabis with a value of over €40,000 in the Ballinteer area of Dublin city.

Gardaí from the Dublin Crime Response Team carried out the search under warrrant. The two firearms, with 23 rounds of ammunition, along with two kilograms of canabis herb and jellies were discovered.

The firearms were made safe and have been sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for further analysis. The seized drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland.

Of the two men arrested at the scene, one has been charged, and is set to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Monday 1 July. The second man has been released without charge, pending a file from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
