WELCOME TO DUBLIN Drives with DoneDeal, where we’ll be taking a series of journeys with familiar Dublin faces to their favourite spots around the capital.

Today, we join foodie influencer (or as some would say, ‘Instachef’) Guy Sinnott for a trip to his favourite family-run butcher’s shop, driving the Lexus NX.

GUY SINNOTT IS a man whose personal map of Dublin is peppered with food landmarks.

He spent years living in the Liberties, where he found his way to the best local eats – from the legendary Fusco’s chipper on Meath Street, to the Michelin-starred Bastible restaurant at Leonard’s Corner.

“I’ve been obsessed with food for my whole life,” he says. “My parents had a restaurant when I was about 14, and we used to live above it. I did every job in the restaurant.”

When the first Covid lockdown hit, Guy – working as a music promoter at the time – had time on his hands and decided to put his love of food to work. “I thought, I may as well start making a few cooking videos,” he laughs.

By the end of that week he was fielding interview requests. Some 45,000 followers later, his straightforward, accessible cookalongs have helped thousands of people make great meals at home. With a few laughs along the way.

We picked him up near his old haunts in Dublin 8, where he took us for a quick tour and recommended some top local spots – before bringing us to the day’s final destination, Ennis Butchers in Rialto.

The family-run business is “one of my favourite spots,” says Guy. “I used to come in here on Saturdays, spend maybe half an hour chatting to Derek [the owner] inside, picking out things to eat.”

Watch the video above for the full trip – including the moment Guy knew something strange was happening to his social media following…
