A MAN HAS been released without charge following the seizure of a handgun in Dublin city on Friday night.

Gardaí arrested two men in their 20s after the gun was seized. One man was released without charge last night, while the second man remains in custody.

At around 10pm on Friday, gardaí were carrying out a routine traffic stop at North Strand in central Dublin.

They became suspicious of a second car in the area which was subsequently stopped and searched. In a follow-up operation, a third car was searched nearby and a handgun was recovered.
