'A tragic death': 15-year-old boy dies after collapsing during soccer match

A post-mortem was due to be carried out today.

A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY died after collapsing during a soccer match in Galway on Sunday.

The boy, Hassan Taiwo, was rushed to University Hospital Galway, but died a short time later.

The Galway Football Association said it was “tragic death”.

“We pass on our deepest sympathies to the his family, friends and players of both clubs involved in the fixture,” a statement read.

The 15-year-old had been playing for his team Merlin Woods FC.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out today.
