Dublin man caught with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine at Heathrow Airport

The man had arrived in on a flight from Brazil.

A DUBLIN MAN HAS been arrested and charged with importing cocaine after he was caught at Heathrow Airport with 10 kilogrammes of drugs.

The UK National Crime Agency’s Border Policing Command confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a 25-year-old man from Clondalkin, named as Philip Knowles, was stopped at around 4pm on Monday by Border Forces at the airport.

Brazil 

Knowles, with an address at of St Mark’s Crescent, Clondalkin, Dublin, had arrived in on a flight from Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The man’s bags were search as he departed the flight in Terminal 1.

It is believed that the drugs are likely to be valued at several thousand pounds and that the purity of the drugs is currently being analysed.

Following the discovery of drugs, Knowles was arrested and charged with importing a Class A drug.

Border Force Heathrow Director Marc Owen said:

Those who engage in drug smuggling should be in no doubt that they will be targeted and brought to justice.Border Force officers secure the UK’s borders 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We welcome legitimate travellers but are on constant alert to keep illegal drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.

He appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he was remanded in custody.

He is due back in court on 30 October.
