Herbal cannabis worth €600,000 found in giant air filters

AROUND 30 KILOS of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €600,000 was seized yesterday by Revenue and gardaí in Meath.

The smuggled drugs had earlier arrived in Dublin Port from Spain, and were concealed in large cylindrical air filters.

The finding was made through collaboration between Revenue officers, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Serious Crime Task Force as part of ongoing investigations targeting drug trafficking in the Meath area.

A man in his thirties was arrested by gardaí, and he is currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
