Man arrested after being found with cannabis worth €180k

The man, 25, was stopped and searched on Berkeley Road in Phibsborough yesterday evening.

A MAN HAS been arrested after being found in possession of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €180,000.

The arrest came after a stop-and-search operation on Berkeley Road in Phibsborough, close to the Mater Hospital, yesterday evening.

The man, a Romanian national, was found to be in possession of 9 kilograms of herbal cannabis.

The intelligence-led operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Revenue’s Customs Service, assisted by the North Central Drugs Unit.

The 25-year-old is being questioned at Store Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Follow-up searches resulted in the seizure of two stun guns.
