Here's what O'Connell Street would look like after an earthquake

INTERNATIONAL AID AGENCY, GOAL, has today tried to hit home the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake in Nepal by bringing it closer to home.

Images of a destroyed O’Connell Street are on display in Dublin’s main thoroughfare this morning, showing what Dublin’s most iconic street might look like if it was destroyed by an earthquake.

Closer to home

The campaign aims to make people think about what life would be like for Irish people had a disaster of such magnitude struck here.

GOAL CEO, Barry Andrews said we are extremely fortunate that we live in a location that will never experience a major crisis such as an earthquake, like in Nepal.

“Today’s posters are part of a wider campaign by GOAL to keep the Nepal earthquake – and other major crises like the conflicts in Syria, South Sudan and Ukraine, the battle to overcome Ebola in West Africa, and many other global emergencies – firmly in the public conscious.”

The campaign has got off to a good start with #HitHome trending on Twitter.
