Four people released after heroin and gun seizure in Dublin

Gardaí discovered heroin with a street value of €3,000, a handgun and ammunition.

ALL FOUR PEOPLE arrested in relation to a drug and gun seizure in Dublin yesterday have been released.

As part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Kevin St area of Dublin city, gardaí from Kevin Street and Kilmainham searched two properties on Eugene Street, Dublin 8.

They discovered heroin (subject to analysis) with a street value of €3,000, a handgun and ammunition (subject to ballistic examination).

Four people, two men (both aged 23 years) and two females (aged 20 and 27 years) were arrested and detained at Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda stations under section 30 Offences Against the State Act, before being released today.

The Garda Press Office said these type of operations “use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks”.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”

A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
