Heroin and sub-machine gun found in vacant house in Cavan

Gardaí say the heroin has an estimated street value of up to €750,000.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED a sub-machine gun, ammunition and heroin in a search of a vacant house in Cavan.

The discovery was made on Monday afternoon when Gardaí raided the house at Garryross, near Virginia, as part of an operation into criminal activity in the county.

The heroin is being analysed but is believed to have a street value of up to €750,000.

Gardaí said the gun and drugs have been removed for technical analysis.

The investigation is ongoing.
