Young girl left badly shaken after three masked men hijacked the van she was in

The van was later found burnt out.

A DELIVERY VAN was hijacked at around 11:30pm in Derry last night.

A man and a young girl were in the van when three masked men stopped the vehicle and threatened the driver.

Both the driver and the girl got out of the van before the three males made off in it.

Neither the driver nor the girl were injured, however they were left very badly shaken.

It happened in Glenowen Park of Derry.

The van was later found burnt out in the Central Drive area.

Police in Foyle are asking anyone who may have witnessed this hijacking or the burning of the vehicle to contact them on the non emergency number 101.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
