What can I get around Ireland for... exactly €600,000?

At that price range, you’ll find a nine-bedroom guesthouse in Cork, for starters.

FINDING A HOME that matches your budget without compromising your list of must-haves can be tricky, but we’re here to make that task easier.

Each week we round up a selection of homes currently on the market in Ireland around the same price point, giving you a snapshot of what a particular amount could get you.

This week, we’re looking at properties around the country with an asking price of exactly €600,000. Here’s a selection of properties to check out…

Youghal, Co Cork – €600,000

If you’ve always dreamed of running your own guest house, Devon View House and its cheery yellow door might be the purchase for you. It has nine bedrooms, six of which are en suite, and the entire property has been converted into a luxury guest house. The property has been updated to include modern amenities, but retains gorgeous Georgian period details.

Youghal is in the east Cork area of the country, and hosts an Ironman competition every June, providing ample opportunity for guests to stay. The area will also benefit from the Greenway opening in the coming years.

Schull, Co Cork – €600,000

While Pier Cottage isn’t as glamourous on the inside, that view will make the necessary renovations worthwhile. The blue-green sea water of Colla Harbour is just steps away from the front door, and the property is for sale including the half acre lot with two-bedroom, two-bathroom home, as well as an almost two acre spot on the waterfront just down the road.

The property is in need of modernisation, but the footprint of 1,300 sq ft will allow for you to take full advantage of the view in one of the most sought-after areas on the West Cork coastline.

This stately property, Bettyville, just outside Crecora village in Co Limerick, is set on an acre of land and has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The bedrooms upstairs are all large double rooms. The second floor is currently used as an extra bedroom and playroom, which gives you added flexibility and space.

Shankill, Dublin 18 – €600,000

Sherrington Cottage was built way back in 1781, on a secluded spot in Shankill, in South County Dublin. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was modernised in the 70s and 80s to include a two-storey extension in the rear.

The property is set behind high walls with an electric gate, offering privacy and security, and the gardens are particularly stunning, full of shrubbery, trees and flower beds. Inside, the home boasts almost 2,000 sq ft of space, and the lofted ceilings make it feel open and airy.
