What can I get in Ireland for... around €500,000?

From a five-bed with potential in Cork to a restored period property in Castleknock.

WHETHER THE LOCATION is perfect but there’s no back garden, or the size is ideal but out of your price range, compromising on your list of ‘must-haves’ is something you’ll soon become accustomed to while hunting for a suitable house.

If a house within a certain price range is currently top of that list, panic not, because we’ve done some of the hard work for you. Each week we round up four homes in a certain price bracket. This week: €500,000.

From a four bed close to Phoenix Park to a new development near Cork city, here are some hot properties that are around that mark.

Carrickmines, Dublin 18 – €490,000

This end of terrace house boasts three floors, all with real wood floors throughout. With its own patch of green to the front and a side entrance that leads to a back garden, this spacious home on the outskirts of Dublin city is home to two large double bedrooms and a further double bedroom on the top floor with an en suite bathroom.

Located within perfect distance of the sea and the mountains, outdoorsy types can get golfing, yachting or playing tennis in a matter of minutes. Sandyford and Stillorgan Business Parks and Beacon South Quarter are easily accessible for a spot of shopping. And the M50, Dublin Bus links and the LUAS green line are all within easy reach.

Carrigaline, Co Cork – €495,000

As part of a new development in Carrigaline, this five bedroom house at Janeville is one of five remaining detached homes that are now available for booking. We all use our homes differently, so the beauty of this development is that you can get in on the design process early on by custom designing your own kitchen and wardrobes.

On the ground floor, 9 ft ceilings with moulded cornicing merge with the modern conveniences of these A rated homes. Located close to the Shannon Park roundabout, Cork city is a short drive away, as is Mahon Point, for every amenity a family may need or want.

This four bedroom detached home on Mulberry Drive fits the bill for anyone who needs to be near the city but craves complete privacy and plenty of space.

A west facing garden and parking for two cars, sets it up nicely as an ideal family home. Have your pick of schools and shopping facilities with Castleknock Village close by and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre less than a ten minute drive away.

Staying in Castleknock, Oatlands is a new development of townhouses that saw the restoration of Oatlands House, as well as the restoration of the stables, which is home to a further 12 properties. Comprising of a mix of two and three bedroom homes, the interior design is well-thought-out and embraces natural daylight through large windows and high ceilings.

As far as location goes, this property’s location on Porterstown Road means Phoenix Park is easily accessed along with a huge range of choice when it comes to sporting facilities, schools, and shopping options.
