4 of a kind: Homes about to go under the hammer

Buying a house under auction has many advantages.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING for a bit of a project, a home with character or simply want to speed up the property buying process, looking at homes up for auction could be a great move.

An auction can also be a stress-free way to secure a new home quickly and possibly at a lower price. If you win the bid, you’ve got the house. There’s also no chance of gazumping after you’re sale agreed.

This week, we’ve rounded up four homes that are about to go under the hammer.

Drumcondra, Dublin 9: AMV €725,000

No 18 St Alphonsus’ Road Lower is a six-bed terraced home that’s 170 m² in size inside, but is currently divided into six units.

Reconfigured, it would make a wonderful light-drenched home that’s walking distance from the city centre. The back garden also has full planning permission for a three-bedroom detached house.

 Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford: AMV €165,000

Sitting just 3km from the town of Edgeworthstown in Co Longford, this four-bed, two bathroom home spans 218 m². It’s detached, so noisy neighbours and lack of space are two things not to worry about.

Inside the space is bright and airy with one en suite bedroom located on the ground floor. An inviting dining room leads via double doors to a large garden with a wooden patio area for entertaining. The auction will be held on December 16th at 3pm in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.

No 15 Glen Abhainn Grove in Enfield is a three-bed that benefits from a garden that faces southeast and has access from the side. Location-wise the house is walking distance from everything the town has to offer. The M4 is easy to access for anyone commuting to Dublin City centre regularly, too.

Downstairs is a roomy open plan kitchen and dining room along with a living room. All three bedrooms, one en suite, are upstairs.
